Privacy Policy

Test Engine AI is an online exam platform used by institutes, teachers and students. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

Our role

When you create your own account or take a public test, we decide how your information is used. When an institute or teacher (an "organization") adds you to a group or test event, that organization also decides how your results are used, and we handle that information on its behalf. For questions about an organization's use of your data, please contact the organization directly.

Information we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, username, and optionally your phone number and profile picture. Passwords are stored only in hashed form.
  • Google sign-in: if you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile details, such as your name and email address.
  • Organization details: organization names, branding, members, roles, student groups and test events.
  • Test activity: your answers, time spent, scores, percentiles and the diagnostic analysis generated from them.
  • Content you upload: questions, images, audio, video and other test materials.
  • Exam integrity data: when an organization turns on integrity controls, we may record events such as tab switching or leaving fullscreen. If it enables webcam or audio monitoring, your browser will ask for permission, and camera and microphone data may be processed to detect anomalies during the test.
  • Technical data: sign-in cookies, basic device and browser information, and aggregated page analytics. See our Cookie Policy.

How we use information

  • To provide accounts, host tests and calculate results.
  • To generate reports, including speed and accuracy diagnostics, explanations of errors and predicted performance.
  • To support exam integrity where an organization has enabled it.
  • To send service messages such as email verification, password resets and results.
  • To keep the platform secure, fix problems and improve the service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to show third-party advertising.

AI features

Test responses and related question content may be processed by AI systems, including third-party AI providers, to produce diagnostics and explanations. AI output can be wrong and should not be the only basis for a decision that significantly affects a student.

Who can see your information

  • Organizations: an organization can see the results and progress of students in its groups and test events, along with any integrity data it enabled.
  • Parents and academic advisors: an organization may arrange for summary scorecards to be sent to them by email, WhatsApp or SMS.
  • Service providers: companies that help us run the service, including hosting and database, email delivery, sign-in, media storage, analytics, AI, messaging and, where applicable, payment providers.
  • Legal and safety: authorities or others where the law requires it, or where needed to protect rights and safety.

How long we keep information

We keep information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service to you or your organization. We may keep some information for longer where we must do so by law, or to resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.

Your choices and rights

You can update your profile from your account. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or export your information, or to object to or restrict how it is used. To make a request, use our contact page. If your data is managed by an organization, we may refer your request to it.

Security

We use safeguards such as hashed passwords and access controls. No online service can be completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children and students under 18

Many test-takers are school-age. Students who are minors should use the service only with the involvement of a parent, guardian or their institute, and as permitted by local law. Organizations that enroll minors are responsible for obtaining any consent that is required. If you believe a child's information was provided without the necessary consent, please contact us.

International transfers

Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where data protection laws may differ.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the date above and, for significant changes, give additional notice where appropriate.
